This YouTuber DaveHax Flower Arrangement Life Hack Could Make Valentine’s Day Much Easier

Not everyone loves flowers, but if you’re getting ready to give a bouquet to someone you know loves them for Valentine’s Day, listen: flower arrangement hack just might be the thing to take your floral gift to the next level. Not only that, but it’s also super easy. Thank goodness for the YouTube tutorials, right?

This little practical life hack comes from YouTuber Dave Hax, which you might remember from that sneaky pizza-cutting trick we reviewed about a month ago. This time, however, he’s using his powers for good: rather than stealing extra pizza, this one will help a beautiful bouquet look even prettier. Isn’t that nice? This is especially useful if the only vase you have has a mouth that is too wide; this gives the flowers a little something extra to lean against, while also helping to fill in the extra space. That said, however, you could probably make it work on the narrower ones as well. Either way, it will definitely wow your recipient, so go ahead and congratulate yourself in advance.

Here is the step by step in a series of images; scroll down to watch the video for full instructions:

1. Take your vase and fill it with water.

This step must be explicit.

2. Dry the edges of the vase with a paper towel.

When I say dry I mean dry – Absolutely no water can cling to the edges for this trick to work.

3. Take clear tape and stick a strip on top of the vase.

He has to drive from side to side.

4. Repeat step three several times until the top of your vase looks like this:

Depending on the size of your vase, you may end up with a different number of strips of duct tape, but you get the idea.

5. Then do the same in the other direction.

At this point, the top of your vase should look like a duct tape grid. Do you see all these holes? Pay attention to these; the next steps build on them.

6. Cut your flower stems to an appropriate length for your vase.

Too long and they will look weird; too short, and you will have the same problem. Look at the. I believe in you.

7. Arrange the flowers in the vase, using the holes in your ribbon grid to support them.

The ribbon helps the flowers to stand up; it also makes the arrangement more complete.

8. Enjoy it!

And before and after, eh? So pretty! May you be the most gorgeous Valentine’s Day, however you celebrate – or how you not celebrate. Totally up to you.
